ICE Certification: Trainng, Experience, Credibility

Requirements for Certified Missionary Ethnomusicologist (CME)

To qualify for Certified Missionary Ethnomusicologist, you must demonstrate that you have earned a total of 100 points – this includes a minimum of 30 points from each of these three categories:

  1. Education
  2. Experience (Practical EM missionary service)
  3. Professional involvement and Scholarship
  4. [Teaching Experience*]

*Points from the Teaching Experience category can be counted toward the total requirement, but are not necessary for gaining this certification. If you think you might have 30 points in the Teaching category, check out the requirements for Ethnomusicology Training Specialist – (130 total points).

If you are planning to apply for Certification, begin documenting the points you have earned, using the guidelines below for calculating how much each item will be worth. When you fill out your application, you will attach your prepared document, which should look something like the example provided. Each item should include points on the left side, and a description of the “what, when, and where” of the item, as well as approximately how many hours were involved (except for educational credits, which are calculated by formula).
