Garland Encyclopedia of World Music - The Garland Encyclopedia of World Music is a 10-volume set which is part of the backbone of academic research in ethnomusicology. The book version covers every continent and is over 10,000 pages and retails for over $3,500. One of the added benefits in being a five-year or lifetime ICE Associate is full online access (including photos, maps, and audio files) to the Garland Encyclopedia of World Music.

Certification – You will have the opportunity to acquire two types of professional certification: Certified Ethnomusicologist (for those involved in field-based ministry) and Ethnomusicology Training Specialist (an advanced certification for those who are training others). This certification will affirm your experience and competency in three vital areas of applied ethnomusicology - education, field experience, and professional involvement. In addition, a separate certification in contextualized worship studies will be available in the future. ICE will maintain a list of certified people and will act as a clearinghouse to help supply qualified instructors and field consultants to various schools and mission agencies.

Networking and mentoring  – Do you need help with a particular project or do you wish to share from your wealth of experience? ICE will facilitate relationships between regional ethnomusicologists and other ethnodoxology specialists and individuals, missions, educational institutions, churches, and other para-church organizations who desire to expand their effectiveness in using heart music and the arts. ICE is also committed to providing encouragement and a professional framework for discovering and developing new talent. ICE will give you the opportunity to develop closer relationships with colleagues world wide, enriching your ministry in many ways.

Resources – The ICE website will become a valuable source of the needed resources for your ministry: forums, links, seminars, music clips, articles, books, and current and archived projects. Many of these resources will only be available to those associated with ICE. You will also have access to materials written by professionals and by students. Both will have opportunities to post articles (student papers are available in the Associates Only section of the site).

Publications –With your first application to join ICE, you will receive one free issue of EthnDoxology Journal and an opportunity to subscribe or renew at a 25% discount. ICE associates can order back issues for a 10% discount. EthnoDoxology Journal is the only published journal with a focus on contextualized Christian music ministries.

Website – The continuously expanding ICE website provides news in the world of ethnomusicology and ethnodoxology, an on-line application, certification information, projects, calendar of events, resources and training opportunities, and nine email forums on different topics for our Associates.
